A single monitor arm holds one display and positions it at a comfortable height while freeing the surface underneath. 1. Weigh your monitor without its stand

Choose an arm rated comfortably above that figure. An undersized gas spring sags and loses tilt hold over time.

2. Check the VESA pattern

Most screens use 75 x 75mm or 100 x 100mm. Larger ultrawide panels may need up to 200 x 200mm.

3. Pick the mounting style
